Godox TT600 | Manual Speedlite Flash
Godox TT600 is a next generation Manual flash released by Godox. TT600 is an upgrade to the ThinkLite TT560, with a new design, higher guide number and a flash head that zooms to different focal lengths. The TT600 is a single firing pin flash, so it is compatible with most DSLR cameras when used as a manual flash mounted on the camera hot-shoe.
Since being a manual speedlite flash, TT600 is most often compared to the Yongnuo YN660. These 2 flashes are very similar in many respects but Godox TT600 has one feature that Yongnuo YN660 lacks, and that is HSS. HSS is usually something found in far more expensive fully featured speedlites and to have it contained in a flash which costs $75 is amazing! It should be noted, however, HSS is only available when used as a slave flash off camera with a compatible trigger being used; X1T and Cells II (no HSS when mounted directly on the camera hot-shoe though). Current compatible transmitter units include the Godox X1T-C, X1T-N and X1T-S as well as the XT-16, FT-16 and Cells II trigger sets.
Compatible master flash units currently include the Godox TT685C / TT685N, AD360II-C / N etc. Though these flashes can also act as remote manual slaves to the TT600 acting as the master flash unit.
Godox TT600 basically provides an alternative to the very popular Yongnuo YN560 III, YN560 IV and YN660 series of remote manual flashes, but the Godox system now has a solid advantage for users trying to incorporate more than just remote manual flashes into their system. As Godox’s remote manual and TTL systems can work nicely together, where Yongnuo’s YN560 series flashes remain incompatible as slave units to the YN622 and Yongnuo TTL master flash units. The Godox TT685C for example can act as a TTL flash on the camera hot-shoe, while also providing a master flash interface to control up to 5 groups of inexpensive remote manual TT600 off-camera.
In terms of build quality, the Godox TT600 feels very well made. It’s made from tough plastic rather than the cheaper kind that you get on lots of gear these days; The swivel head is quite stiff which We know might bother some but is actually something We prefer. It has a very large LCD screen with robust feeling buttons and an easy-to-grasp UI. All in all, when compared to other manual flashes the Godox TT600 comes out very favorably.
