SanDisk 400GB Extreme Pro UHS-I microSDXC Memory Card with SD Adapter

SanDisk 400GB Extreme Pro UHS-I microSDXC Memory Card is a strong addition to Sandisk’s repertoire of microSD cards. The new Extreme Pro series exhibits a significant improvement in performance compared to the previous model. Its performance is rated at 170MB/s read and 90MB/s write speed and features the UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) and V30 rating.

Sandisk Extreme Pro A2 cards are the best choice for drones and action cameras as well (DJI, GoPro and many other companies actually recommend Sandisk Extreme Pro cards for their products). Not all microSDXC cards are fast enough for the high-end video modes of the latest drones or GoPro cameras (GoPro Hero 8 black for example), and using a card that’s too slow can lead to unstable and unexpected behavior such as video recording stopping unexpectedly or error messages. Specifically, you want SD cards that have fast sequential write speeds, which is the spec that’s relevant to recording video or using the burst photo modes on GoPro cameras.

Worth noting is that the new Sandisk Extreme Pro is rated U3. So what does this mean? Both U1 and U3 are the two Ultra High Speed classes for modern SD cards, and the rating is determined by minimum performance. U1 cards will provide write speeds of at least 10 MB/s while U3 cards are good for a minimum of 30 MB/s. Typically U1 cards have been designed for 1080p video recording, while U3 is required for 4K.

The A2 performance means the card will maintain at least 4,000 random read and 2,000 random write operations per second, making it ideal for use in smartphones, tablets and mobile devices for expanded storage. In addition to enhanced random performance (vs. 1500/500 read/write IOPS mandated by the A1), A2 cards are required to support such functions as command queuing (with a minimum depth queue of 2 and a maximum depth queue of 32) to optimize random read performance, caching to hit write performance targets, as well as self-maintenance capabilities. A2 spec was designed specifically to improve performance of applications that are installed on microSD cards. In fact, the latest versions of Android only allow users to install apps on A1/A2-badged microSD cards. With enhanced random read/write speeds, the Sandisk Extreme Pro A2 cards will be a better fit for apps that perform a lot of read/write operations and will therefore significantly improve user experience

As one of the fastest and largest-capacity microSD cards available, the Sandisk Extreme Pro is a compelling option for serious users. Sandisk designed this card with an emphasis on durability and backs it with a limited lifetime warranty.
