Yongnuo YN565EX II is the most affordable flash speedlite for both professional or advanced amateur Canon shooters. It is an excellent choice for on-camera use as well as off-camera use in combination with Yongnuo YN622C wireless triggers. The build quality is good and it feels solid. It is features rich, supporting e-TTL (II), 2nd curtain sync, wireless and optical slave modes, auto and manual zoom, flash exposure compensation, flash exposure bracketing and much more… YN565EX II is a great alternative to much more expensive Canon 580EX II and 430EX II  flash speedlites, offering the same functions and same or more power at much lower price. It is similar to YN568EX II in terms of features except that it does not supports HSS which YN568EX II does.

Yongnuo YN565EX II | Flash Speedlite for Canon

Yongnuo YN565EX II is a powerful flash unit which is compatible with all Canon cameras that have e-TTL (II)control. It features a powerful guide number of 58m at ISO 100 and 105mm for illuminating your subject along with a zoom head with coverage from 24-105mm. Also, the flash can tilt from -7 to 90° and rotates 270° for versatility in bouncing your light.

Yongnuo YN565EX II is fully powered and fully featured. Although Yongnuo released several flashes with more features like YN568EX II, YN685, and YN600EX-RT, YN565EX II still remains one of most popular flashes though. This is because it is an economical choice for people not requiring HSS, but also because it has a high voltage port for external battery packs, which the YN568EX unfortunately lacks.

If HSS is not required, the YN565EX II is one of the most economical options to use off-camera with the very popular YN622C TTL triggers, providing TTL, Remote Manual power control, and Second Curtain Sync.

Yongnuo YN565EX II features wireless slave TTL functionality and full Canon E-TTL / E-TTL II support. YN565EX II Speedlite is a great choice for both on-camera and off-camera use. When used off-camera it is easily triggered by camera’s with built-in commander mode or other speedlights with master TTL functionality or as a simple optical slave with instant sync (S1) or skip pre-flash (S2) settings.

The flash offers a variety of other useful features, including a wide-angle diffusion panel and a bounce card built into the head. Other capabilities are a modeling light function and sound prompt for audible notifications on flash status. The LCD panel assists in viewing settings and the flash will recycle in about 3 seconds at maximum power. First and second curtain sync modes are available as well and it has PC sync and a socket for an external power pack. It runs on 4 AA batteries.
