Yongnuo YN300 II 3200-5500K On-Camera Light is one of a series of on-camera LED lights from famous manufacturer. This YN300 II 3200-5500K variable color model features two sets of 150 LEDs, one set with a color temperature of 3,200K (tungsten-like) and the other with a color temp of 5,500K (daylight). The LEDs are arranged in a checkerboard pattern, and each bank can have the intensity to be set individually, allowing the selection of any desired color temperature between 3,200K and 5,500K. For example, both banks at full brightness would yield something in the neighborhood of 4,350K.

Yongnuo also produces YN300 5500K only model which features 300 LEDs with 5500K color temperature. 5500K only model is clearly brighter, but you don’t have the ability to set color temperature in 3200-5500K range.

Yongnuo YN300 II is a compact, lightweight and affordable LED light designed as a camera toplight. It’s powered by a single Sony NP-F battery, the type that you get with a Z1 or Z5 camcorder. It features four hinged barndoors as well as a cold shoe mount on the base. A slot on the side of the case enables insertion of a single filter from a provided set of four, one clear diffusion and three colored. If you are using this light atop a camera then it’s definitely worth putting diffusion filter in. The light is so bright at maximum power that you will need to back it off a bit using the brightness dial on the back of the unit.

At full blast, YN300 II LED is pretty intense and certainly powerful enough to compensate for a degree of daylight behind your subject, enabling a lower exposure setting on the camera and therefore fewer clipped highlights in the background

The light can run on battery only (Sony NP-F type, sold separately). YN300 II adopts Yongnuo proprietary LED driving technology which does great job to avoid corrugation and stroboscopic flash. It also adopts encoder digital dimming system which helps to make accurate and reliable dimming. You will not experience flickering or any other negative effect with this LED light.

• There is a choice of “coarse” or “fine” setting via a toggle button on the rear of the light. In “coarse” mode, the power is adjusted in increments of 10, while in “fine” mode it is by 1. This setting affects how the light responds to the remote control as well.
• External Power Supply is not available with this model. If you need external power supply then check YN300 III 3200-5500K model
• Remote Dimming Mode – The wireless remote controller can adjust the luminous intensity and control the switches of YN300 II. The maximum remote controlling distance is up to 15 meters.
