Godox S30 LED Focusing Light
Godox S30 LED Focusing Light allows you to control the spread of light from spotlight to floodlight in order to help photographers and filmmakers create theatrical effects. The S30 offers an adjustable beam angle that can be varied from 6° to 55° with the turn of a knob. The brightness can be steplessly adjust from 100% output down to just 10%.
Godox S30 is small and relatively portable unit has a number of interesting attachments which can make it an ideal light for effects but also for certain types of product shots. With S30 Godox created a pretty unique, relatively low-cost ecosystem for using effects light with accessories such as projection lenses, gobos, irises, and other useful little add ons. The only similar system on the market is the one made by Dedolight which is far more expensive.
Godox S30 has a solid 5600K color temperature with a high CRI/TLCI rating of 96 that indicates impressive accuracy in the rendering of color. The S30 is ready for worldwide use using the included AC adapter, but it will also run on a separately purchased NP-F battery when mains power is unavailable, or an optional power bank using a USB cable, although those last two will reduce the output by half or more so they are not that practical.
The optics are excellent and the projector produces a very sharp image when properly focussed and with a high quality gobo is used. There is no detectable chromatic aberration at the edges. When defocussed it produces a very pleasing effect. As a continuous light it may well be of interest to product photographers because of its ability to give you very fine control of light placement. The fact that some of the more esoteric Dedolight attachments can be used is a bonus.
